BROCKHAMPTON

As it turns out The Family is not the final BROCKHAMPTON record. TM, arriving one day after The Family, is a collection of shelved recordings from last year, and it's probably where it should have stayed. I guess it's nice to hear the gang all here which was missing on The Family, but this is some of the most bland, flavourless, and uninspired material the band has ever come up with. It really encapsulates all the big issues I had with BH's music post SATURATION series. The instrumentals are minimal, low contrast, and one dimensional. I'm not really picking up anything of substance from the lyrics. And it also features some of the most baffling attempts at indie, dancefloor pop (MAN ON THE MOON and GOODBYE). I'm having trouble seeing even the most hardcore of BH fans getting into this. If you haven't listened to it yet, stay away and preserve the respectable image of BROCKHAMPTON you have cultivated thus far. If you were unfortunate enough to have already given this a spin, never return, never look back.
