bygones
bygones is Nick Reinhart and Zach Hill; my favourite guitar player and drummer of all time. When the two come together, they deliver some of the most mind expanding music out there. Zach Hill is known for his insane drumming ability, but on this record, I feel like he really lays it all out; nothing is held back. As for Nick Reinhart, he is a total guitar wizard who specializes in morphing the sound of his guitar using various effects. He delivers this relentless flow of guitar riffs that create a great deal of tension and sweet release.
Relentless is actually a really good way to describe this record. There is so much happening and it is constantly changing; it can feel like senses overload if you're not used to this kind of music. But for me, a music fan who embraces the weird and chaotic stylings of Hella or Tera Melos, this never turned me off of the record. It instead made me want to listen to it over and over again. I had to break down the multi-layered guitar assault on spray you with your own trip, I had to study the intricate drum pattern on error so that I could drum along, and I had to wrap my head around what even is cold reading. If I'm being honest, I still don't really know to this day. At this point, I feel like I know this record intimately, and I still come back to it and have my mind blown.

Standouts: cold readin, not what it is but what it's not, spray you with your own trip, error
