Devour shows Pharmakon experimenting with more dynamic progression and layered industrial loops, though heavily effected vocals sometimes dilute the impact.

For 2019's Devour, I think there was a more conscious effort to create a sense of progression within these pieces. The loops are peppered with additional details here and there, adding new and exciting elements to the instrumentals. However, the vocals are often treated with a chain of effects that in theory should make them more offensive, but instead detract from the intensity of Chardiet's performances. Despite this, Devour still produced the highlight Self-Regulating System. The instrumental sounds the most laboured as all these shots of noise are chopped and panned all over the stereo field. The main industrial loop has the lumbering quality of a steadily moving train. Chardiet plays a game of call and response with heavily distorted synths that are surprisingly tuneful for a Pharmakon track.
