Året Utan Sommar

Stoort Neer

I'm very happy to see Calle Thomer revive the Stoort Neer project and this time he's brought along fellow Vildhjarta member Buster Odeholm to provide drums in addition to the other technical roles he performed on the last EP. That's not the only thing that's different though. This new Stoort Neer EP goes into a much more melodic hardcore and black metal direction as opposed to Vildhjarta's more progressive and groovy take on modern metal. Stoort Neer is also no longer an instrumental project as Max François provides some pretty harsh vocals. The result is an incredibly blistering eight minutes of metal madness. I would like to specifically point to two tracks that stick out to me. The first is kråkorna where Thomer unexpectedly incorporates a lovely, slightly melancholic, melodic line. I also have to praise Odeholm for his performances on halshuggarnatten where his blast beats are particularly fiery. There's an overwhelming moment where he's got the rapid fire kick drums and his hands match on the ride and hi-hats. These tracks are great, but if you're really in the need of a shot of adrenaline, you might as well just experience it from start to finish. It'll get your heart racing in no time.

8.1

Standouts: kråkorna
