Vince Staples
Vince Staples
This one will be somewhat short since there isn't really much to talk about on this new Vince Staples project. The beats are one-dimensional and Vince Staples' delivery is so one-note that it becomes monotonous by the end. It is kinda disappointing since I like Vince Staples quite a lot. I think he's had some killer songs and verses all throughout his career. Also, having Kenny Beats handling the production on every track should be a reason to get excited but the production sounds quite uninspired. The album gets points for being one of Vince Staples' more personal projects lyrically, and given that the project was so short, I guess it is admirable that they chose a specific sound or vibe and stuck to it all the way through. At the end of the day, I don't really take issue with any track in particular, but when compiled in the context of an album, it feels like a wash. I am left feeling indifferent.
